This is one of our smaller absinthe spoons typically used on a smaller glass. The grille, however, is larger than most and still easily allows the passage of the sugar water to flow through the spoon in to the glass of absinthe. The spoon features 8 stars and 16 clovers and is an exact reproduction of an antique 19th century piece.

This spoon is used in the preparation of a traditional French or Swiss absinthe. A traditional absinthe is prepared by pouring an ounce of absinthe into an absinthe glass, then placing the absinthe spoon on top of the glass and a sugar cube atop the spoon. Ice water is slowly dripped from a fountain, carafe or balancier onto the piece of sugar. The cold sugar water then drips from the spoon into the glass of absinthe releasing oils and perfuming the air with fennel, grand wormwood and anise. The combination also begins to turn milky white in color, as the water mixes with the anise.

NOTE: The spoon will NOT fit the Pontarlier Glass. Will only fit glasses with a mouth small than a 3" in diameter.
