Our rattan furniture is intended for restaurant, bar, and hotel use. The furniture is made to the same standards as that found throughout the streets of Paris, France, matching those makers' quality, workmanship, and materials. Each piece is handmade in Indonesia – the birthplace of the rattan bistro chair. We use Manau rattan which is known for its durability, strength, and weather resistant qualities. Although Paris made the Bistro table and chair famous, Indonesia made the chairs possible. The rattan is grown and harvested in the Indonesian rainforests. Indonesia is the largest rattan producer in the world.

Our weaving material is a high-quality, virgin HDPE (high-density polyethylene). HDPE is a highly sought-after plastic material for use in outdoor applications, as it is UV resistant, impervious to mold and mildew, resistant to extreme temperatures (heat and cold), and waterproof. Virgin HDPE also offers excellent impact resistance and a high tension strength. It is easy to clean using a mild soap detergent with a soft sponge and rinse with water.

HDPE plastic is the most environmentally stable of all plastics – giving off no harmful fumes into the environment. Manufacturing HDPE plastics requires only a fraction of the energy required to produce steel from iron ore, further contributing to its Eco-friendly classification.

Instructions and Care

To keep your rattan furniture in good condition, it is essential to be mindful of moisture. This natural material is prone to damage from excess humidity or moisture, so it's important to keep it dry and take steps to protect it from water damage. Whether you're storing your furniture during rainy seasons or simply wiping it down regularly to remove any moisture, preventing moisture buildup is vital to extending the life of your rattan pieces. The rattan chairs and tables used by cafés and restaurants on the sidewalks of Paris are brought indoors nightly for two reasons. One is to keep them safe at night, and the second is to allow the rattan to dry after rain during the day. Allowing the rattan to completely dry is the best way to prevent moisture buildup and protect the rattan furniture from damage.

If you want to keep your own rattan furniture in good condition, you might consider taking similar precautions. By keeping your furniture dry and protected from water damage, you can help extend its lifespan and keep it looking great for many years to come.
