This postcard is a reproduction of an late 19th-century French print for the alcoholic drink Quinquina Dubonnet. Quinquina is a sweet, wine based alcohol that is flavored with fruit and other spices, and was originally intended as a treatment against malaria.
Quinquina Dubonnet was invented in 1846 and over the next 100 years its popularity continued to grow throughout the country. It became one of France's best known aperitif (an alcoholic drink consumed before a meal) during the Belle Époque (1871-1914).
