INSTRUCTIONS TO REPLACE GLOBE
Begin removing the glass globe from the spout assembly (the piece with the fountain spouts attached) by holding the spout assembly with one hand and the top of the globe with the other. Turn the globe counterclockwise until it is free from the spout assembly. The globe may be screwed in tightly, but it will unscrew. Be careful not to use too much force to break the glass. Although it is extremely rare, it can happen. Putting a cloth towel or a leather glove between your hand and the globe before unscrewing it is advisable. Also, please be careful not to bend the spout arms while removing the globe, as these are somewhat fragile and can be bent or broken off. If bent, the spout arms can be easily repositioned back into place.
Once the globe is detached, you will find a rubber gasket between the globe and the spout assembly. Do not discard the gasket, as one is not included with the new globe. It will be needed when assembling the replacement globe.
Next, the filter (or strainer) inside the bottom of the globe will need to be removed. The silver filter has a series of holes allowing water to pass through while keeping pieces of ice from clogging the spigots. It was originally used to trap impurities in the water. Ours are primarily for show, but are helpful in catching ice pieces that could clog the spouts. It is located inside the fountain’s glass globe at its bottom. Most filters will easily unscrew by reaching your hand inside the glass globe and unscrewing the filter counterclockwise. When unscrewing, it sometimes helps to push the filter with your other hand from the bottom. If the filter does not want to unscrew, reach into the glass globe, and grasp the filter with one hand, then take an awl (or a small screwdriver) in the other hand and insert it into one of the outermost holes of the filter from its other side. Turn the two in the same direction at the same time to unscrew the piece. The filter will loosen from the base enough that you can finish unscrewing by hand. Do not discard the filter. It will need to be put into the new globe.
The replacement glass globe is now ready to be attached. Begin by applying a layer of lubricant to both sides of the gasket. The gasket will help ensure a complete seal to prevent water from leaking. We recommend food-safe silicone. If the silicone is not available, Vaseline will work just as well. A lubricant is strongly suggested. Put the rubber gasket back into the spout assembly, ensuring it can lie as flat as possible so that the globe threads will align. Place the bottom of globe onto the top of the spout assembly and screw it clockwise. Once the threads match up, you can begin screwing the globe into the spout assembly. This process can sometimes take time to align correctly, but the threads eventually line up. A tight seal is needed, but it is not necessary to overtighten. The last step is to screw the filter back into the bottom of the globe.

CARE
Upon receiving your globe, we suggest washing it with room temperature or warm water.
After use, allowing the glass globe to adjust to room temperature is recommended before washing. If you intend to use the fountain solely with water, run lukewarm or room-temperature water through the spouts, then allow the water to empty from the spouts and glass globe. Open all spouts, turn the fountain upside down, and place it on top of a kitchen towel to allow it to dry completely.
If washing the fountain, use liquid dishwashing soap with warm or room temperature water.
Never use hot water to wash the globe, as it could shock the glass.
Handwash only. Do not place in the dishwasher.
