This postcard is a reproduction advertisement for the absinthe brand, Legler-Pernod. The cardboard sign was given to bars and bistros and would have been hung on their walls around the beginning of the20th-century. These signs were a popular for of advertising at that time. Legler-Pernod was founded in Couvet, Switzerland (the birthplace of absinthe) and eventually opened a distillery in Pontarlier, France. Pontarlier was the home of all major absinthe distilleries at the time from throughout the world.
