This postcard is a reproduction of a late 19th century advertisement for the absinthe brand, Edouard Pernot. This popular print features a woman tasting her gentleman friend's absinthe. It was only until the end of the 19th century that it became socially acceptable for women to drink absinthe. Until then, it had been mostly geared towards men.
